The local area - mountains, woods, rivers and lakes - has long been known for recreational opportunities, particularly with the development of Sunday River Ski Area. We are a family of experts in four season outdoor activities and are available to assist you as you plan your time in the area. Canoe? kayak? bike?hike in summer, or snowmobile? snowshoe? or ski in winter. Enjoy some of Maine's most fabulous inland scenery. The Hostel is ideal for either a canoe or kayak adventure, located just five minute walk from the beautiful Androscoggin River. Fishing for Trout or Bass is unsurpassed in the North Eastern US. Route 2 has a good biking shoulder, and the local mountains have some of the least known but most spectacular trail systems available. All activities can accommodate a wide variety of experience - from rank beginner to hardened expert. Families in particular find the area perfect for all ages. We work closely with a local outfitter, Bethel Outdoor Adventures, who are located on the banks of the Androscoggin River, 1/2 mile north of Bethel, Maine (approximately 12 miles from the New Hampshire border). They offer canoe and kayak rentals, a shuttle service, bike rentals and repair, fishing guides and advice, maps, and a wealth of knowledge about the local area and its myriad possibilities.
